Optimum conditions for growth of cyanobacteria on solid media.
The colony forming ability of single cells or very short filaments of 7 strains of cyanobacteria was tested on media solidified by agar or by agar substitutes (Gel Gro or Gel Rite). In addition, the effect of various methods for preparation of agar media on colony forming ability was measured. High efficiency colony formation for most of the strains required that the agar be autoclaved separate...

متن کاملA Strict Border for the Decidability ofE {
During the execution of functional logic programs, E{unii-cation problems have to be solved quite frequently, where the underlying equational theory is induced by recursive functions. But, what about the decidability of those E{uniication problems? Up to now, there does not exist a concrete answer to this question. In this paper, we answer this question by drawing and verifying a strict border ...
متن کاملAn anaerobic, intrachamber incubator for growth of Methanosarcina spp. on methanol-containing solid media.
To simplify the incubation of Methanosarcina spp. on solid agar medium, a two-port, manual, rectangular air lock was modified to serve as an anaerobic incubator. In one operation, it is possible to incubate 153 petri plates, the equivalent of 11 standard anaerobic jars, with plating efficiencies identical to those of traditional protocols.
متن کاملPopulation Dynamics of Brucella on Solid Media.
An examination is presented of the growth characteristics on solid media of one strain each of Brucella abortus and B. neotomae. It was observed that, during the exponential growth phase, generation times of approximately 100 min were measured for both organisms under a variety of conditions. The logarithmic growth phase did not extend beyond 18 hr in most instances. It was noted that erythrito...
